Feeling Connected: Why we love laughing babies

UnknownWhy do we love laughing babies so much?  The answer partially lies in a set of neurons in the brain called mirror neurons.  These neurons light up when we see someone experiencing happiness or pain, just as they light up when we ourselves are feeling happiness or pain.  Mirror neurons help us feel connected.  Of course a lot of human experience can make connection feel unsafe.  Maybe this is why we love those carefree laughing babies so much.

Mindfulness practices are a great way to break down our barriers to connection.
